Process simulation of an air cooled gas turbine blade

چکیده
Blade cooling is a relevant topic in the design of modern gas turbine engines, because of the increase in performance due to the resulting increase in the inlet turbine temperature is counteracted by a corresponding decrease due to the air extraction from the high-p compressor. In this paper, a previous model published by De Paepe & Dick is revisited and extended: while the original model considers the single stage consisting of an expansion followed by an isobaric and an isothermal transformation for the mixing of the coolant and the gas, here, the same approach is used for modelling the flow between each pair of injection holes distributed along the statoric blade. The simulation is performed by iterating the resulting non-linear system of equation over ten holes. Wolfram MATHEMATICA© software is used. The result is in acceptable agreement with the available literature data.

متن کاملSimulating Cooling Injection Effect of Trailing Edge of Gas Turbine Blade on Surface Mach Number Distribution of Blade
In this research, a gas turbine blade cascade was investigated. Flow analysis around the blade was conducted using RSM and RNG.K-ε turbulence modeling and it is simulated by Fluent software. The results were considered for the cases as Mach number loss at the trailing edge of blade caused by vortexes that were generated at the end of blade. Effect of cooling flow through the trailing edge on th...
متن کاملAn Experimental High - Temperature Turbine ( No . 1 : 26 ) • Part I . mThe Cooling Performance of a Set of Extruded Air - Cooled
Cooling characteristics are given in terms of the variation of average blade temperature at mid-span with cooling-flow rate, Reynolds number, gas/cooling-air absolute temperature ratio, and, for the rotor, gas-stream incidence. Chordwise and spanwise variations of blade temperature are also presented. Measured pressure-drop characteristics indicate that in a gas-turbine engine, with the cooling...

متن کاملPower Generation Analysis for High-Temperature Gas Turbine in Thermodynamic Process
A thermodynamic process of power generation has been developed for a gas turbine, a steam turbine, and a compressor, supported by adiabatic expansion or compression processes. Recently, the possible inlet temperature of gas turbines has been increased to 1500°C or more, and the inlet temperature of steam turbines also has been increased to 650°C. At these high-temperature conditions, turbine no...
